General V K Singh is the Union Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs. A retired Indian Army General, he later became a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member of Parliament. He graduated from the Defence Services Staff College as a honours graduate of the United States Army Infantry School. He is a graduate of the Rangers Course at Fort Benning and the United States Army War College in Pennsylvania. Gen. Singh started his career as a military officer and became the first ever commando in the Indian Army to have been promoted to the General rank. He was part of the 1971 India-Pakistan War and Operation Pawan.
Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda is a Member of Parliament of India, Lower House (Lok Sabha), representing the Kendrapara constituency since 2009. Jay Panda has been associated with the India-USA Forum of Parliamentarians and is its Chairman. He was given an award for best parliamentary practices by the Honorable Chief Justice of India in 2008. Since its inception in 2007, Jay Panda has been associated with the Citizens’ Alliance against Malnutrition, an advocacy group including many parliamentarians across parties, civil society activists, non-governmental organisations, Bollywood actors, and other celebrities.
Dr Jayaprakash Narayan is a physician by training who went into the Indian Administrative Service in the aftermath of the emergency. During his 16 years of distinguished public service in various capacities, he acquired a formidable reputation in the state of Andhra Pradesh. His other accomplishments include several major policy initiatives, including empowerment of parents in schools, speedy justice through rural courts, economic reform and restructuring of Andhra Pradesh, development of the Infocity in Hyderabad, the much-acclaimed law for self-reliant cooperatives (1995), empowerment of local governments and stakeholders.
