Eligibility Criteria and Selection Procedure

Candidates must meet the following basic eligibility criteria to apply for the Fellowship -

  • Both Indian citizens and International Participants can apply.
  • He/she should have completed an undergraduate degree or should be a student of final year in his/her course at the time of applying.
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 35.

Application Process

Interested candidates would need to go through a three stage process in order to get selected for the fellowship program.

Who is eligible for MY Parliament Fellowship?

What skills, background, or technical experience do I need to be a MY Parliament Fellow?

No specific skills, background, or technical experience are necessary to be eligible for the Fellowship. Commitment to service and helping others; ability to work well in a collaborative environment; aptitude for leadership; good communication skills; humility and adaptability and a keen interest about governance and public policy are the skills which if you possess make you an ideal fit.

Is it suited for working professionals with full time jobs?

Yes, they can take the online course or take a sabbatical if needed. The online course would be rigorous for first month, but second month onwards will have only weekend classes and tutorials. Interested candidates can also opt for our part time courses.

What does the selection process for qualifying as a MY Parliament Fellow involve?

The selection process will involve three stages -

1. Submission of online application.
2. Telephonic interview
3. In person/Skype Interview

What is the duration of the fellowship?

The fellowship is a four month programme. However, based on the mentors discretion and fellows individual interest, it can be extended further.

How much commitment does it require?

Fellowship requires the fellows to commit themselves for 4 months completely. We also have part time courses which would require 6-8 hours a week.

Can the period of engagement be extended beyond 4 months for the fellows?

Initial engagement with the MP would be for 4 months, depending upon the MPs discretion and your interest, you can extend it upto an year.

When will I hear from the selection committee about my application?

The status of your application will be communicated to you as the process evolves, through e-mail.

Who are my mentors?

You would get to work with an MP/MLA/IAS officers, and get to understand as well take part in the policy making and governance process. It would be pretty much every kind of work that happens in an office of a public authority.
